Sculpting is a skill, one that I've never really gotten into. There are so many media that can be sculpted, from cardboard, to clay, to metal, to marble. Sculptures are one of the longest lasting forms of art in the world, second only to architecture. So many sculptures tell us about our past, from Roman to Aztec.
I kind of regret not taking a class in high school, and I'm not sure I'll be able to take one in college, but if the chance arises I'm gonna take it. I love trying new things and this is a high one on my list.

In Defense
In defense of advertisment, I actually want a career in the trade when i get older. I've been bashing it pretty hard for a while. but that's just because I'm a rebellious teenager. Sure advertising is pretty evil, but it's not an evil you can get rid of. It really isn't that evil, actually buisnesses need it to survive in today's competitive enviorment. I really just want to start a campaign that's my own. I like the thought of a sphere of influence, and whoever I'm going to work for in the future will be influenced by me, and the consumer will be influenced by me.
Brands
Brands change every few years or so. An example of this is how Google's logo is now in circular form, they changed it in order to fit in with the industry. Dunkin Dounuts has changed their logo in the past few years as well. Cereals keep thier logos, but in recent years they have strayed away from using them. The mark that your brand has represents your company. It determines how you view the company, with either a mature or a fun point of view. They work so hard to keep up their image to their demographic.
In essence a logo is set in place to represent a company, it's their namesake, and their pride.

Damien Hirst
Damien Hirst is a contemporary artist, that works out of England. He is best known for his instalation pieces and his sculptures. He is actually the richest living artist. Not to sound easily impressed but, being the richest of a group of highly successful people has to be a good feeling.
most of his work goes for around the million range. Some of his work is actually sold for about 100 million. This price isn't hard to achieve when you make pieces of art out of diamonds thought (6,801) to be exact.
Even with his great success, some credit him with the fall of contemporary art, that's a bit harsh. If a style of art goes down the drain then it's society's fault. But no matter how much critics bash him he is still richer then all of them combined. In 2009 he pocketed 198 million.
Photography
Photography is past it's booming point in the world. Digital design has taken its place in the art worlds views as thriving. Photography has come a long way since its roots however. In little over a century, photography has come from unheard of to the Norma in our society.
Almost every household in America has a camera. Photographers and photo enthusiasts share a love to capture what is going on in their lives, to spread a message or to save a moment. Journalism could not survive without photography, and in some regards art would not be the same without it.

Children, Children
Childrens attention span these days are garbage to say the least. Some of this is due to the fast pacing of the world that we live in. Some of this is also because if the large amount of tv that we watch. With so much stimulation in everyday life we simply do not have time to approach and to appreciate it all.
With games and advancing technology we are not given the time to appreciate what around us is beautiful. We are never taught to slow down, esspecialy in America where everything is more fast paced and we put an emphasis on productivity.
Technology has effected art, digital art and design is a thriving point in the industry. But it has also taken away our appreciation o f art in the physical world. Technology depends on art, design depends on art. But without technology art would still thrive, and perhaps museums and galleries would do even better.

When people think of ads they think of commercials. It's pure and simple. Actually its none of those. It's a dirty game of money and time. Commercials on tv account for billions of dollars annually. This is an absurd amount of money until you think about the money involved with the companies that sponsor these ads.
When profit is at stake people will do anything to do well. Commercial sway consumer thoughts and actions by sometimes misleading their audience. Not only is this dishonest it provides less of a chance for smaller companies to take part in the market share.
Small business don't usuallyw run commercials, because they lack the money to do so. Big companies long for the exposure and see small businesses as less then them, and in turn the consumer sees these small businesses in a lesser light.
The general idea is, don't rule anything out, and don't trust what you see on tv.

Even after initial attempts failed there was a rush to subconsciously meld a brain with an idea, this is considered hypnotism and gave birth to the idea of sleeper agents who woke up to their task at a specific word. In more modern times, and popularized by a movie starring Leo, the premise of implanting an idea into a person's head can be called Inception.
Little did modern scientists know, they had already stumbled upon a form of mind control, able to bend minds and extract information and money from their own citizens.
This was not done with gases, or serums however. It was done with art, the deepest parts of the human brain are influenced by something as simple as a picture, or a slogan.
This is a different type of war.

Street Art
All graffiti is street art, but not all street art is graffiti. It's one of those things that can be expressed better with a Venn diagram.
Street art is usually done with paint, or in the form of sculpted forms, other types include manipulation of common things that are already on a certain street. Street art is used to more effectively use public space. If a wall is empty then why not fill it up with art that everyone can enjoy.
Many cities around the world are taking on an initiative on order to promote public art. Cities like Madrid and London are trailblazing this movement in order to promote their cities with cheap tourist attractions and things that their citizens can enjoy for free.
The United States however falls behind when it comes to these things, besides a few murals here and there, not much initiative have been given to this movement.
It provides a nice cultural feel to any city and creates jobs for artists. It is highly beneficial to any public space. Many artists such as Banksy take street art and make a name from it.

Culture has changed that in the past decades and now people who paint graffiti and are known for it aren't known as criminals. That is, besides the obvious trespassing and vandalism charges that come naturally if course. One thing that it does do is turn heads, it's a form of art that commits itself to being noticed.

With A Palette Knife
I've been painting a lot recently. And of all the brushes and tools and instruments that are used the palette knife happens to catch my interest the most at the moment. It's a metal thingy thing. It provides nice angles where you can just layer paint on and scrape and you can pretty much take paint off or just throw globs on with it. Van Gogh used palette knives a lot in order to layer his colors as well as to scrape some layers off. It's a fantastic tool, it really is. It adds a whole new vocabulary to the way you go about on working on a painting. It seems silly because when you think of painting you think of brushes not little metal bits, but it's honestly legit and is really quite rad.
Imaginary Foundation
the Imaginary Foundation is a clothing company based out of San Francisco. I'm not making this post to convince you to buy some trendy threads. But as far as trendy graphic t-shirts go this company takes first prize. This company is a collective of artists, a think tank of sorts. They make clothing and art prints in order to spread their message.
Their message happens to be what I'm talking about. Maybe its just a marketing façade but it makes a lot of sense to me. The Imaginary Foundation sells their product with the pretence that they are here to blur the lines of science and art. That everything fan be explained but also appreciated. They want to bring wonder back to our busy lives. I don't know about you, but that message means more then any $30 cotton blend t shirt.

Therefore It Is part 2
In 1917 Duchamp made a drastic display of the notion that if you say something is art then therefore it is art.
Duchamp was influenced by the anti art and anti authority movement of the early 1900's. His artwork is consider by many as a major landmark in art history, and is considered some of the mosts influential work in the 20th century.
His most well known story is when head produced a work called The Fountain, which was basically a urinal in display at a museum. Critics had a blast with this one. For obvious reason. Duchamp's ideas were clearly presented in this, whatever you call art, is art. So would a Urinal displayed in a gallery be considered art? I guess so, it makes you think on a higher plane doesn't it?

Therefore It Is part 1
Basically if you say something is art it then becomes art. Art doesn't really have a definition not in a social seance anyways, people really can't define art. It is anything that makes you think in a higher plane, and think in a way that you don't usually think. It makes you see, hear, think, and feel.
Poety is art, cooking is art, writing is art, painting is art, dancing is art.
A more philosophical sense of the word is saying something is art makes you think. So basically if you out the thought that something is art in someone's head they start to think of it in a different way. You say it is, therefore it is.
Many artists play around with this idea and it usually brings chaos to the general public as well as baffle critics and people who are trying to appreciate, appraise, or judge art.
