Media
I've tried almost everything when it comes to media. From watercolors, to vinyl silk screens. I've done acrylic paintings and sculpted things. I've painted on wood and canvass and paper and walls. Its my hobby and I like it a lot. A reed pen and ink is one of my favorite medias and I prefer it over a lot of things, such as charcoal.
One of the things that I am least experienced with and least acquainted with is oil paint. From everything that I heard its supposed to be the most difficult and the most hefty to handle. Something about paint fumes and paint thinner as well.
For my next painting I'm probably going to approach oil painting and see how that goes.
Okay so my blog has been pretty personal lately and the quality of the information given has been slipping. Next week will include more exciting things and less about me. Cause, admit it none of you find me especially interesting. See you soon, with some sweet clean fun.

Being Inspired
Sometimes I just get really into whatever I'm doing. From school projects to paintings, to cooking there art times where I'm filled with bursts inspiration and energy. Its the most amazing feeling when you focus on one thing and you just don't want to stop. The feeling of when creativity comes really easy to you and you feel like nothing in the outside world can distract you.
Then comes the flush, where you finish whatever you were doing and try to move on to the next thing. You're stuck, you get tired and every little thing is a burden to you. I hate it, there are days and weeks at a time where I can't do anything productive. I just sit there and try to think, an open sketchbook and a pencil, and I can't do anything about it. This week is one of those weeks where my motivation to do mundane things and my creativity is stifled and I just want to sleep all day.

OBEY
Obey clothing, Obey propaganda, the Obey movement. Obey is a now hugely popular clothing brand among rich city kids, and people who think they are rich city kids. It also comes along with a gnarly price tag. Obey didn't start out as this huge company suing everyone they feel like though, Obey used to be rad.
Shepard Fairey, used to be one of my heroes. Obey used to influence how I looked at the world. It used to be making fun of advertisements and the government and make you look at things. It used to be a part of the street art movement. Now he just sues people and makes clothes in Indonesia and sells it for 35 a shirt. Back in the heyday he used to be against outsourcing and the use of child labor.
okay maybe this is really exaggerated. This is really exaggerated. He doesn't use slave labor or anything, he does sue people, and he did sell out. That's why I'm so mad, I used to look up to a movement that focused on art, and now it focuses on money. It used to be focused on a cause, now its focused on trends. Just stay true to your art guys.

Stickers As An Art Form
Stickers are a constant in cities and urban areas. As a form of vandalism or streets art it is extremely efficient and cheap. In the 80's and 90's the streets of New York had an epidemic of vandalism among other things.
Stickers as an art form is powerful in how you can subliminally send messages to people. Companies do its all the time, it's a cheap form of advertisement that can be put literally anywhere. The two typical kinds of stickers are paper and vinyl.
The paper stickers are cheaper, but don't last long and definitely don't hold up to weather. Vinyl is a durable and plastic like material that holds up to weather, but sometimes fades in the sun.vinyl is more expensive but is choice on any type of quality sticker.
Many famous street artists got their start from stickers because of their ease of use and versitiity. Shepard Fairy is one of these artists, but again. We'll talk about him at another time.

Personal Post: Drawing and Painting
I take a portfolio drawing and painting class in school. This is a leveled course, which is pretty cool. It's basically an art class with loose guidlines.
I'm going to be starting a 40x30 oil painting next week, that's pretty nteresting. I really enjoy that class. It's the feeling of being immersed in something you love doing. That rush of getting something done is what everyone is trying to achieve in life, and art happens to be my outlet.
I'm still young, I'm going to deffinatly change, but no matter where I am in my life I'm going to be passionate about something. Right now my passion lies in art, and maybe in a few years I'll be passionate about my job or raising a family. But for now art's pretty cool.

oh, I forgot to mention this but I'm going to start posting more pictures soon, some of them are going to be of my own work and some of them are going to be professional artist's work. I hope you're excited for that, because, well... you should be.
In the Clothing Industry
The word fashion freaks me out, it just always puts the image of skeletal models and narrow runways in my head. So for the purpose of my own sanity, "fashion" will be referred to at the clothing industry from this point on.
Clothing is a form of art that is literally made to get into your head. You judge people by what they're wearing, it's not that you're a bad person, it's just what your brain does. From rags to business suits everything you wear is an impression of who you are and what you mean.
Art is form, the human body is form, and therefore everything on a human body could be considered art. clothes are meant to fit a certain way, and to make you look a certain way, the clothing industry has everything figured out, and then they sell it.
What sells in clothing and in every other art field is creativity, the more unique or awe inspiring an item of clothing is the more likely it is for a young person to buy it. the demographics of selling clothes vary greatly, each group has their own needs and wants. For business types, to streetwear, to things such as hiking and swimming.
